Dr. Amin Ghobeity
Professor, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering & Technology, FAST
Dr. Amin Ghobeity has a BESc (Chamran University), MESc (Western University) and PhD (University of Toronto) in mechanical engineering. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 2008, Amin completed a two-year NSERC postdoctoral fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he conducted a research project on optimal use of solar energy for a combined power and water production.
Amin’s strengths and expertise are in design, simulation and optimization of small-scale energy systems, including renewable and hybrid energy systems. He also has extensive industry experience in design of energy and mining equipment using finite element analysis (FEA), computer programming and advanced simulations.
Prior to joining Sheridan College, Amin was a senior mechanical engineer at Hatch Ltd. He has published 20+ articles in peer-reviewed journals.
Amin currently oversees several Federally-funded applied research projects at Sheridan’s Centre for Advanced Manufacturing and Design Technologies.
