Natural disasters and older adults: What it means for you

April 13 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

A Centre for Elder Research Outreach Event.

Join Alan Batt, Research Associate at the Sheridan Centre for Elder Research, Paramedic program faculty at Fanshawe College and Red Cross humanitarian worker as he presents on how disasters affect and impact older adults.
Older adults are disproportionately affected by disasters in all aspects of their lives. The needs of older adults are different, are at times complex, and are often overlooked during disaster planning, response and recovery.

Alan will discuss lessons learned through several disaster events, and translate those lessons into suggestions for practical improvements that we can all make to improve the lives of older adults before, during and after a disaster.

Light refreshments will be provided.
