Open Data in Reverse: Roundtable conversation

Imagine a world where communities and government work collaboratively on opening up and using open data. That world has arrived.

Find out how a government ministry, a civic group, and a college worked together to create, publish and activate an open data set, while increasing data literacy for students. Join this diverse group of panelists as they reveal how it all came together.

Jennifer Hollet is Head of News and Government at Twitter Canada. A Harvard graduate and Jill of all Trades, she developed a top category app in the App Store to help make political TV ads more transparent, ran as an NDP Candidate, and worked as a MuchMusic VJ.

Richard Pietro socializes open government and open data by creating civic engagement as art through his company, OGT Productions. As a community organizer, he is also prototyping new ways to release open datasets with students and government.

Nik Piepenbreier is Senior Business & Solutions Consultant at the Ontario Public Service. At the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing, he was instrumental in leading the release of open data data sets for the Ontario Affordable Housing Program.

Michael Jones, Professor and Program Coordinator at the University of Toronto Mississauga, is interested in applied project-based learning pedagogy in engineering and information technology.
